90,000 Apply to Join Security Services; Only 12,000 Places Available

The Minister of Interior, Henry Quartey, has disclosed that nearly 90,000 individuals applied to join Ghana’s security services, following the closure of recruitment portals on August 13, 2024. The recruitment drive, which was announced on August 7, 2024, by the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, and Ghana Immigration Service, saw an overwhelming response from applicants.

Mr. Quartey, speaking to Joy News, highlighted that despite the large number of applicants, only about 12,000 positions are available, as approved by Parliament. He emphasized that the security agencies will rigorously apply their eligibility criteria to select the most qualified candidates from the vast pool.
