3 Arrested Over Assault of JoyNews Crew at Galamsey Site

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault on Luv FM journalists, including Erastus Asare Donkor, while reporting on illegal mining activities at Asumenya near Manso Nkran in the Ashanti Region. The journalists were attacked by armed men allegedly working for Edelmetallum Resources Limited.

Over ten armed men abducted the journalists, took them to an undisclosed location, subjected them to physical assault, and later abandoned them. The journalists had been documenting the environmental destruction caused by illegal mining when the attack occurred.

Kofi Adu Domfeh, News Editor at Luv FM, confirmed that the police arrested three suspects, two of whom were identified as part of the assailants. Despite the police escorting the journalists back to the site for further investigation, no one was found at the location, and the police cautioned the media team against filming the damaged land.
