Police in the Ashanti Region have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 28-year-old man, identified as Yaw Asamoah, following a dispute with a commercial sex worker at Abrense near Atobease in the Amansie West District.
The incident occurred on Monday, November 3, 2025, after Asamoah reportedly lost GHC1,000 during his visit to the woman. Attempts to retrieve the missing amount are said to have led to a heated altercation, which later turned fatal.
Reports indicate that the young man was subsequently found dead in an abandoned mining pit, a discovery that has caused fear and outrage among local residents.
Confirming the incident to Citi News on Friday, November 7, the Assembly Member for the Atobease Electoral Area, Samuel Yeboah, said two people, including the sex worker, have been arrested to assist with police investigations.
“We just called the police to take the caretaker and the sex worker. Investigations are ongoing,” Mr. Yeboah stated.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
