27 Individuals Arrested in Abetifi Chieftaincy Dispute Granted GH¢200,000 Bail

The Mpraeso Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Adwoa Akyamaah Ofosu, has granted bail to 27 individuals involved in the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in Abetifi.

The individuals had been arrested for allegedly abducting the Chief of Abetifi and were previously denied bail two weeks ago. However, after a renewed plea from their legal counsel, the court granted bail on November 28, 2024.

The court set the bail amount at GH¢200,000 for each individual, with two sureties, including one with justification. The accused are expected to reappear in court on December 19, 2024.

Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh, representing the accused, praised the court for its fair ruling. He emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through legal channels rather than resorting to violence.

“The law is working, and the judge has been fair. I am happy that the 27 people have been admitted to court bail. Everything must be resolved in the courtroom,” he stated.
