Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government will allocate GH¢110 million in 2026 to implement the 24-Hour Economy Programme, aimed at boosting productivity, exports, and job creation nationwide.

Presenting the 2026 Budget to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr. Forson explained that the initiative encourages industries, businesses, and services to operate beyond traditional working hours to unlock round-the-clock economic activity.

Funding for the programme will be sourced through the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), the Development Bank Ghana (DBG), and private capital to minimise reliance on the sovereign balance sheet.

Dr. Forson also highlighted other key allocations in the 2026 Budget to strengthen agriculture and energy sectors, including GH¢245 million for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, GH¢6.9 billion for the Oil Palm Finance Window, GH¢828 million for agriculture enclave roads, and GH¢2 billion for the Rural Electricity Acceleration and Urban Intensification Initiative.

The Finance Minister said these investments are designed to drive inclusive growth, enhance productivity, and create sustainable jobs, particularly for youth, while reinforcing industrialisation, food security, and energy stability in Ghana.
